Ivy Gourd (kovakka) upperi


I like kovakka very much, to the extent that I can even eat raw kovakka! This is a simple and tasty recipe. If you like my recipe, do try it out and give your comments/suggestions for improvements on the same. Enjoy :)
Ingredients:
  1. Kovakka – 20 - 25 nos
  2. Chopped Onion (big) – 1
  3. Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  4. Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  5. Chilli powder – 1 tsp (according to your taste)
  6. Curry leaves- few
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Oil – 2 tbs
  • Clean and cut the kovakka in to round shape.
  • Heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, allow it to splutter. 
  • Add curry leaves and chopped onion to it and sauté it till onion turns soft. 
  • Add the cut kovakka, sauté a bit and then add turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt. Sauté well. 
  • Add little water. Then cover with a lid and cook on low flame for 15 – 20 mins.
